Snake Charming by Gaspar Gonzalez

An snake charmner is a guy that risks his life hypnotizing poisonous snakes likes Cobras, it also includes handling the snake, and many more dangerous performances that puts on danger his life. This act is most commoly in India but many places like Asian, Africa, and Egypt performs this very dangerous acts. The snake charming represents a heroe that can control the devil (snake). The act consist on taking out a cobra from a box and start playing the flute and the snake in state of hypnosis start daning from one side to the other side inside the box, they became a   popular tourist attraction in the begining of the 50´s. Besides the cobras the snake charmers also use pythons and mambas to make the same thing. If these poisonous snakes bite someone they would be considered as blasphemous by the Hinduism. All the snakes that the snake charmers use are all captures because is a tradition to go the wilds and capture a snake and they always have a sustitue for all the snakes. The flute that the snake charmers use is called naskar that is made of bamboo stem and coconut shell. Always before the show the snake charmer washes thir snakes for them to be wet and fresh.

  1. I like your blog Gaspar Gonzales,Snakes Charming its a very good topic , its amazing how the man risks his life hypnotizing poisonous snakes likes Cobras. I dont know how the snake start dancing with that music its seem dificult but for those people they know how to control that snake. You need to be careful how to do this amazing thing because something worng you risk your life and in seconds the snake can kill you and the people who see the spectacle can be in dangerous. In my life I never see this spectacle only in movies or in discovery channel but they tell that this spectacle´s they always do in the India also in Asia , Africa and Egypt. Its awesome how the naska is the name of the instrument is made of bamboo stem and coconut shell. In Mexico you can´t see this spectacle , if you see it you have looky because you never gona see this spectacle is a tradition of other countries. To control this snake with so much of pousion its so dificult tha snake can become crazy and it can hvae alot of problems. I would like to go to the India and see this great spectacle with a gun because if the snake become crazy they need to kill the animal.

  2. I thing that is a very interesting topic to talk about because is and art that I don’t know, after reading this blog I figured out what charmers do and how risky is this activity for the artist for example, the kind of snakes that are hypnotized are very dangerous and the bite can end a human life. As I understand the processes of hypnotize a snake need to follow several steps, fist of all the snake needs to be in a box then the charmers start playing his instrument and the snake start moving side to side, finally the snake return to the box and the artist close the box. I also get impressed when I saw the video because I have never saw anyone hypnotized a snake, he make seem easy but I am sure is not. Also the geographical area of this shows are represented in India, Asia and in some parts of Africa, but know is expanding to occidental world and North Europe.
I would like to see this kind of presentations in a live show and have the opportunity talk to the charmer to get his opinion about the risk of the activity, and if he had ever lost the control of the snake. This would help me figured out with more perspective how risky is this activity. Finally think this is a very interesting blog because the information is really clear and understandable for any public, and is notable all the investigation done before writing.
